              <text>Comparing neural networks across architectures is a challenging task: performance metrics like accuracy are often non-exhaustive, while representation metrics (e.g., CKA/RDM) can be biased and affected by data preprocessing. We introduce a sheaf-based framework that produces a compact, dataset-conditioned functional fingerprint of a network using intermediate activations. Starting from a model’s computational graph (in this work restricted to sequential MLP/CNN architectures) we build a sheaf by attaching metric–measure stalks to layers and construct linear restriction maps via entropic Gromov–Wasserstein optimal transport. From each sheaf we build a filtration and extract the trajectory of Laplacian eigenvalues. We use the mean eigenvalue curves as our network fingerprint. To compare models, we compute Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) distance between fingerprints.  We conduct extensive experiments with different architectures and datasets and empirically show that our fingerprints cluster models by functional behaviour and separate trained from random instances with high external validity, while exhibiting strong internal quality and robustness. This new approach complements existing representation metrics, scales to heterogeneous widths/depths without one-to-one layer matches, and provides a principled, low-dimensional summary for cross-architecture comparison.</text>

By integrating terrain parameters such as slope, topographic position index (TPI), and topographic wetness index (TWI) with ground motion data, a semi-supervised machine learning approach was developed to distinguish areas of thin and thick peat. Improved spatial understanding of peat depth supports carbon accounting, geohazard risk assessment, and infrastructure planning in peatland regions. This research demonstrates how remote sensing can deliver cost-effective, scalable, and data-driven solutions for climate resilience and environmental monitoring. Peatlands are vital carbon stores that regulate hydrology and mitigate climate change, yet over 80% of UK peat is degraded and emitting carbon. </text>

              <text>Ghana possesses over 1.9 million hectares of irrigable land, yet less than 3% is currently utilized, with agriculture remaining largely rainfed. This research explores the transformative potential of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) in modernizing irrigation systems to address inefficiencies in energy use, water distribution, and equipment longevity. By integrating advanced motor control techniques and real-time systems using dSPACE MicroAutoBox III, the study demonstrates how VFDs can significantly reduce power consumption, mechanical stress, and over-irrigation. Mathematical modeling and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing validate the system’s performance under dynamic conditions. Results show up to 50% energy savings and 30% water conservation during partial load operations. The research recommends pilot deployments, technician training, and solar-VFD integration to support Ghana’s 2025 electrification goals. VFD technology offers a scalable, sustainable solution for enhancing agricultural productivity and resource efficiency across Ghana’s irrigation landscape.</text>

              <text>The Brown Dwarf Desert, encapsulating the bias of brown dwarf companions towards wide separations (&gt;1000AU), means that transiting brown dwarfs should be rare phenomena. The following study investigates this claim by simulating a model population of all transiting brown dwarfs in the Solar neighbourhood using existing expected distributions of brown dwarf properties. Initial results found a significant underdensity of these objects compared to the current numbers detected by TESS as a result of typically wider separations in the model population. Modifying this population with a power-law separation distribution found that an exponent of α&gt;0.405 is necessary for making the model population agree with the TESS data. Likewise, a log-normal distribution requires a mean of μ&lt;0.4 (equivalent to a peak in the distribution &lt;2.5AU) and a standard deviation of 0.6&lt;σ&lt;1.0, yet this must also be combined with an increase in the binary fraction of f&gt;3.7%. This highlights the alarming contradiction between our current understanding of the Brown Dwarf Desert and the number of transiting brown dwarfs that have been discovered, meaning a refinement of separation models is necessary.</text>

              <text> Terahertz technology holds great promise as a safe tool for skin imaging, with potential applications in diagnostics and cosmetics. The  Picobot is a medical imaging system which operates using terahertz-frequency (THz) EM waves - these waves are non-ionising and can  obtain a sub-millimeter depth resolution. This makes them a suitable method to image skin without exposure concerns while obtaining  high resolution data. The absolute penetration depth of THz light is limited due to its attenuation by water, but this absorption trait  could prove useful for differentiating between healthy and drier regions of biological tissue. These waves can penetrate the topmost  layer of skin, the stratum corneum, and into the epidermis below. The reflected THz signal carries information about the structure and  hydration of the skin. Images of these structures and important characteristic values can then be generated for further analysis.</text>
