Using a minute-level dataset, I separately analyse realised and implied volatility through Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression and instrumental variable (IV) techniques. I introduce Boolean and inverse logarithmic attack indicators, with the number of Palestinian deaths as an instrumental variable to establish causality. Results reveal a significant increase in volatility following high-magnitude attacks, particularly involving oil tankers, with volatility spikes typically peaking within the first day post-attack. Volatility decay is non-monotonic, indicating that market responses vary in intensity over time. The robustness of our IV model, evidenced by significant coefficients and exclusion restrictions, further supports causal findings. I discuss the policy implications, highlighting the stabilizing effects of a ceasefire on financial markets. I also acknowledge limitations in our dynamic modeling, suggesting the potential for improved accuracy with a GARCH model and additional instruments in future research. Description An account of the resource My supervisor’s research team is investigating how neurons and glial cells communicate with each other, and to detect the release of L-Aspartate from neurons, they are expressing L-aspartate oxidase (LAOx) on the surface of mouse brain cells which generates hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as one of the products. However, this production of H2O2 would not normally occur in brain, and therefore, it could have undesirable physiological effects. Catalase is an enzyme which metabolizes H2O2 and it could be combined in a construct with LAOx to prevent excessive accumulation of H2O2 in tissue. Microbial catalases with a high catalytic activity and a small mass would be appropriate. Such catalases could be expressed in ordered arrangements with LAOx and fluorescent proteins on mouse brain cell membranes to reduce the diffusion of H2O2 away from the detecting cells. My project therefore devised a range of constructs that combine catalase and LAOx tagged with a red fluorescent protein (mCherry) in different sequential orders to optimize oxidase-based biosensors for use in brain without overly reducing their sensitivity. Capital openness is defined as the extent to which a country allows the flow of financial capital across borders. We selected control variables regarding education levels and trade openness and employed the Newey-West estimation method. The results confirm the theory that capital openness has a posi- tive effect on inequality, the higher the financial globalization of a nation, the higher the inequality. This suggests that when devising policy centered on capital openness, it is important not to overlook its effect on inequality.
