Abstract

This research investigates how biologically relevant fluids affect the performance of lateral flow glyco-assays. Building on previous work by Baker et al., two glycosylated polymers, 40 and 72 length, were synthesised and used to functionalise 16nm gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). These fully functionalised nanoparticles were then incorporated into buffer solutions doped with biological fluids—blood, saliva, and urine and tested against differing concentrations of SBA and bovine serum albumin (BSA) (control group, no affinity for Gal-PHEA).
