Title A name given to the resource Social Sciences Subject The topic of the resource Social Sciences Academic Paper An academic paper Abstract The abstract of the paper Given that the peace process in Cyprus has to-date remained securitised with a strong reliance on Track 1 diplomacy, which has thus far failed to make significant progress, this study provides and analyses the viewpoints of Cypriot youth – and a limited selection of those that work and engage with them - which has long been a neglected demographic in relation to the Cyprus Problem and the Cyprus peace process. A total of 32 topics were discussed by participants, during a series of semi-structured focus groups and interviews, which resulted in a combined total of 98,000 words of qualitative data which has been analysed thematically. Participants of this study agreed that Cypriot youth remain disinterested in the Cypriot peace process, although their voices are often neglected by a peace process that is exclusionary and lacks transparency. Both Greek and Turkish Cypriots also felt that the education system in Cyprus promoted ethnonationalism and is unhelpful in developing bi-communal relationships. Many participants of this study were regularly involved in organisations that promote bi-communal activities - the challenges they face, particularly in encouraging engagement from a more diverse group of young Cypriots, are also given extensive discussion in this paper. Participants felt frustrated by the lack of progress in the peace process so far and they all expressed a strong desire for a solution to be achieved, often blaming a lack of political will and international support as the reason a solution has not yet been found after 50 years of failed negotiations. After discussing the views of participants, this paper argues that a multifaceted approach is essential to progress forward to an internationally accepted bi-zonal, bi-communal federation with a need to pursue significant education reforms, along with greater pressure from international actors, and a peace process that is truly transparent and inclusive. However, the rise of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) threatens these practices, and without effective monitoring and efforts to curb this proliferation we face the risk of a serious public health crisis. This report seeks to illuminate the current state of AMR and stewardship within the Coventry and Warwickshire area, with a particular focus on the three acute Trusts (University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW), South Warwickshire Foundation Trust (SWFT), and George Eliot Hospital (GEH)) associated with Warwick Medical School. Data was extracted from the 'Fingertips' public health database and a subset of indicators were examined to present an overview of the threat of AMR and compare outcomes against goals laid out in the governments 2019-2024 National Plan to tackle AMR. Our analysis suggests increasing rates of E.coli specimens resistant to key antimicrobials in the region compared to the national average for England. An exploration of key antibiotic prescribing practice targets indicated that Coventry and Warwickshire (CaW) Trusts were below national average performance, suggesting that a review of such prescribing practices may help address AMR trends in the region. The variance in these findings reflects the complexity of the challenge in fighting antimicrobial resistance and the persistent hurdles healthcare systems encounter in addressing threats of this magnitude, particularly in settings with limited resources and prioritisation of events like the COVID-19 pandemic. Further efforts, monitoring, and investment will be needed in the coming years to address the alarming rise of antimicrobial resistance in the face of current efforts to curb its proliferation. When we know the chances, the best strategy is to invest about 67% in stocks. When the chances are unknown, we update our estimates with new data. Our results show that investment choices are sensitive to changes in these estimates. This research shows how using Bayesian methods can help make better investment decisions.
